SHIB on Ethereum launched in 2020 under the pseudonym Ryoshi as a decentralized community experiment. It grew into one of the best-known tokens on Ethereum - where every on-chain swap pays Ethereum mainnet gas fees. Schismatic Shiba is a separate community token of the same name on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2.

Schismatic Shiba is the split. Same name, same dog, separate contract and supply on Base - an Ethereum Layer 2 that posts its transactions to Ethereum. We read the contract line by line: no tax on trades, and an auto-burn that sends 0.01% of the pool's token balance to the burn address on sells, at most once every 12 seconds. Not a copy. An evolution.

Definition: a schismatic is someone who creates a schism - a division born of different beliefs.

Applied to SHIB: the split from the original SHIB on ETH - same community spirit, on a separate contract on Base.

Are SHIB on Base holders just the old ETH whales moving chains? We checked the top 100 non-contract Base holder addresses against the Ethereum SHIB ledger.

Methodology. Snapshot of the top 100 non-contract, non-burn SHIB-on-Base holder addresses (Base Blockscout), each checked for any SHIB-on-ETH balance at the same address (Ethereum Blockscout token balances), November 6, 2026 UTC. An address appearing on both chains is only an address - it is not proof of the same person. We report what the chain shows, nothing more.

Limits. The top 100 are the richest addresses, not a random sample of all 242K+ holders; the same address on both chains is not proof of the same person; zero-balance results were verified as true zeros, not API errors.
