SHIB on Base vs SHIB on ETH: the numbers, side by side

November 6, 2026

Two tokens carry the Shiba Inu name: the original SHIB on Ethereum (2020) and Schismatic Shiba on Base. Below is the head-to-head, measured from public on-chain data providers. Numbers move; the sources are linked so you can check the current figures yourself.

The head-to-head

MetricSHIB on BaseSHIB on ETH
ChainBase (Ethereum Layer 2)Ethereum (Layer 1)
Market cap (circulating, CoinGecko)≈ $850K≈ $2.7B
Holders≈ 242,500≈ 1,847,000
Main-pool liquidity≈ $92K≈ $2.5M
Burn address holdings≈ 32.7% of max supply≈ 41% of total supply

What stands out

Two market-cap definitions exist. Some trackers quote ETH SHIB near $4.6B - that is price times the full 1 quadrillion supply (fully diluted). Measured on circulating supply, CoinGecko puts ETH SHIB near $2.7B. We use the circulating figure for both chains so the comparison is like-for-like.

Holder counts are addresses, not people. One person can control many wallets, and airdrops and dust inflate raw counts on both chains. Base shows ≈242,500 holder addresses; Ethereum shows ≈1,847,000.

The burn. About 32.7% of the 1,000T max supply sits at the Base burn address (0x000…dead), and the contract keeps adding to it: on sells, an auto-burn sends 0.01% of the pool's token balance to the burn address, at most once every 12 seconds. We read the verified contract source - there is no tax on trades. On Ethereum, about 41% of the ~1,000T total supply sits at the commonly cited burn address (0xdEAD…069). A dead-address balance is a strong signal, not a certified total of all burned coins.

The gap. On circulating market cap, ETH SHIB is roughly 3,200x the Base token at snapshot time. That gap is the opportunity the community measures itself against.
